Jesse Friedman, a lifelong Queens resident, enthusiastically supports the Queen's Future/Metropolitan Park proposal. He argues that the current state of Flushing Meadow is uninviting and underutilized, and the proposed development would better represent Queens' identity and provide more opportunities for entertainment and community engagement.
- Friedman describes his childhood experiences in the area, noting that he only visited Flushing Meadow for baseball games and found it "dirty" and "disgusting".
- He emphasizes that the proposal aligns with Queens' culture of food, music, sports, and entertainment, and would provide a more diverse range of activities beyond just attending Mets games.
- Friedman expresses excitement about the potential for the area to become a "great place" for future generations to grow up and experience "incredible things".

Yeah, so as my mom said, I grew up in Queens, born and raised my whole life, and know, I was a child in this area, and, I I went to Flushing Meadow.
1:32:12
The only time I went to Flushing Meadow was to play a game, a baseball game.
1:32:16
I never went there for any other reason, for no entertainment, to have fun, nothing.
1:32:23
It's dirty.
1:32:24
It's disgusting.
1:32:27
And I think that if you if you look at any of the presentations that's going on and you have a pride of being from Queens, How can you say no?
1:32:44
I mean, I just don't understand it.
1:32:47
It it it it represents what we are as Queens people.
1:32:53
And right now, what's over there, it doesn't it doesn't represent anything that we're about.
1:33:00
As my mom said, we're into food and music and sports and entertainment.
1:33:06
And I love going to the to the games.
1:33:10
I love going to Citi Field.
1:33:11
It's a lot of fun, but that's all I can do.
1:33:15
I can go there, and then I can go home.
1:33:18
And I think that, you know, now that my childhood's over, I'm 33, the kids coming up now to give them a great place to go and a great place to be and to grow up and to, you know, to see all these incredible things instead of a dingy subway station, walk down the stairs, and here you are, Citi Field.
1:33:39
I mean, you know, there's a lot more to that area that could be, and right now, it is less than nothing besides a stadium.
1:33:49
So, I I just I don't see how anyone could ever say no to something like this.
1:33:59
Let's go Mets.
