I'm Joseph Sakowi.

I'm the chief waterfront design officer at Waterfront Alliance and a resident of Woodside Queens.

I'm leading a project with Waterfront Alliance to make Flushing Meadows Corona Park more resilient.

We have Metropolitan Park as a partner on that project along with New York City Parks.

They've been a great partner to work in that central core of the park and also in the Meadow Lake areas.

Through that work, we've seen the constant flooding issues in flooding meadows.

We know how hot it gets around the park.

Both of those issues are made so much worse by just having giant parking lots around.

Metropolitan Park is a way to make that space green again.

We see how underfunded the park is.

City budget isn't gonna allow the kind of really generational change that this project would on those existing parking lots.

This is a way to create a lifeline for improvements in Flushing Meadows.

And we are at Waterfront Alliance are very eager to see that come to fruition.
