Hello, and good morning, chair Riley and the council members.
1:43:56
Thank you for letting me speak today.
1:43:57
My name is Kai Shum, and I'm delivering a testimony in support of the Metropolitan Park Plan.
1:44:03
I'm a youth of Queens who has heard many promises but not enough actions.
1:44:09
I grew up around the Bland Project Parks right by College Point and Roseville Avenue where there are countless countless prostitutes, drug dealers being picked up on the streets.
1:44:18
We have an opportunity to transform this area, which is right a block away from the Bland Project Parks, to have a beautiful park given live music and Soli has ensured security on more than just a handball court and netless basketball courts.
1:44:37
From the renderings, we have seen the beautiful space that this can transform into.
1:44:42
And as a New Yorker, we're always hearing about countless projects, but when will these projects actually happen?
1:44:49
We actually have the funding now to make some of these projects happen.
1:44:52
And when I have kids, I wanna tell them that I was part of something that made this community better.
1:44:58
We wanna see things happen and not just hear about it all the time.
1:45:02
As a youth, it's been about, like, twenty, thirty years.
1:45:05
I haven't seen much happening, but we finally have a chance to have a project that showcases the liveliness of the community, gives diversity, gives back to the minority business owners, and which is why I've I've truly support this project.
