Hi.
2:53:40
Good morning.
2:53:40
Thank you, counsel, for allowing us to speak.
2:53:42
My name is Tammy Rose.
2:53:43
I live in Jackson Heights.
2:53:45
I'm a mom, an early childhood educator, small business owner, and veteran.
2:53:49
And most of all, I'm a lover of my Queens community.
2:53:52
I'm here today to express my strong support for the Metropolitan Park project.
2:53:57
In full transparency, my company, Little Friends, has provided and may provide in the future services to Queen's future such as consulting services with respect to the design of the on-site childcare facility to be located at the Metropolitan Park site.
2:54:14
This childcare facility is what I'm here fighting for.
2:54:17
When I first heard about this project, I was ambivalent.
2:54:20
But after attending the first town hall and hearing about the 24,000 union jobs, my first thought was, who is taking care of the children?
2:54:28
And my second thought was, wow.
2:54:30
I'm really against 50 acres of unused asphalt when we could build a park there instead.
2:54:35
After having multiple conversations with the team, I knew this project is exactly what we need in Queens.
2:54:41
To be able to offer childcare to the workers of this project, not only for early childhood, but for after school, which includes sports, music, and a wraparound schedule to accommodate the working schedule of parents, this will be transformative in Queens.
2:54:55
No other company is doing this.
2:54:57
It will be such an asset to not only the families, but also the children.
2:55:01
Childcare is often the first barrier for families to go back to work.
2:55:06
Childcare is also one of the many positive community benefits of the project, which includes a new park, public park for the children to play, an improved train station for the families to access, and local hiring that will employ the members of our community.
2:55:20
I want to again thank the council for allowing us for allowing me to speak.
2:55:24
And again, I want to express express my strong support for Metropolitan Park where we have the opportunity to put Queens First and our where our kids will thank us for generations to come.
2:55:35
Thank you.
