  • Williams notes a lack of widespread support for CCHR among council members
  • She stresses the importance of helping members understand the 'connective tissue' between their priorities and CCHR's work
  • The council member calls for more proactive engagement with members to explain the implications of CCHR's work

I just have one request that you in your efforts also speak to my colleagues and I know hopefully I'll have a meeting with the human rights working law group soon to just talk about strategy because one thing I noticed about CCHR because it's such a small agency and I don't think people always associate like when we pass these laws that an agency then has to implement the law.

I don't always feel widespread support by my colleagues for CCHR and I have to always like drag them kicking and screaming and not because they don't care.

I think members have their priorities and so whether they care about immigration or criminal justice housing, being able to connect that particular issue to the proactive and reactive ways that CCHR can be of support especially in this moment is is important.

So this is just a plea for you to help me get the message across because I don't I think we did a better job last fiscal cycle getting members to understand the connective tissue but I think you know collectively, me you, could always do better at allowing and not allowing, do better at proactively engaging members so they understand the implications.
