- Community Development Block Grants fund various programs including demographic analysis, population division, and strategic planning groups
- DCP has submitted a pro-housing grant application with HPD and is awaiting further details on the funding amount

Thank you, director Grodnik.
0:19:14
Want to begin on some questions regarding the federal funding.
0:19:20
So DCP's budget is part is funded by the city's funds with the second largest revenue source being the federal funding, largely from community development block grants.
0:19:33
In fiscal year twenty six, DCP's budget included $14,600,000 of federal funding.
0:19:40
This represents almost one third of DCP's budget.
0:19:43
Now with the current presidential administration signaling that they want to reduce overall federal expenditures, how does the city plan on ensuring that DCP remains fully funded?
0:19:54
And is DCP preparing any contingency plans for when and if this funding is jeopardized?
Dan Garodnick
0:20:00
Well, needless to say, we're watching that issue very closely.
0:20:04
A significant portion of our budget comes from federal and state block grants.
0:20:08
So we we are hopeful that we do not see any disruption in in those grants coming from the federal government.
0:20:18
That said, you know, we will see what happens here.
0:20:22
We will assess our needs.
0:20:24
We will assess our work program.
0:20:25
We will assess any changes that need to be made at such time that actual cuts come down the pike.
0:20:32
At the moment, we are proceeding under the current framework as proposed in the preliminary budget.
Rafael Salamanca
0:20:39
Alright.
0:20:39
What does DCP use the community development block grants funding for?
0:20:47
And do these funds support neighborhood rezonings?
Dan Garodnick
0:20:52
Yeah.
0:20:52
In part.
0:20:53
But I'm gonna I'm gonna turn to David Parrish, our chief operating officer, to run through where specifically we most see the funding for community development block grants affecting our program.
0:21:04
David, go ahead.
David Parrish
0:21:05
Thanks.
0:21:06
Community development block grants fund a wide array of programs, including the city's demographic analysis and assessment team, our population division, the mapping of city addresses at the Department of City Planning, and a number of our long term and strategic planning groups.
0:21:27
So that that's where the funding goes.
Rafael Salamanca
0:21:33
Alright.
0:21:34
Are there any federal funding applications DCP plans to submit in the near future?
0:21:38
If so, please detail what they are.
0:21:40
Additionally, are there any applications that have been submitted that DCP is waiting for a response?
David Parrish
0:21:49
Yes, council member.
0:21:50
We've submitted a pro housing grant with HPD.
0:21:56
We were notified by HUD before the end of the last administration that we had won some amount of funding and we're working with OMB and HPD to determine what the next steps in that grant process are.
