DA Clark introduces a new pre-arraignment desk appearance ticket (DAT) diversion program aimed at providing alternatives to prosecution for certain non-violent offenses in the Bronx.
- The program will operate in the 40th Precinct
- It offers individuals who receive a DAT for victimless, non-violent misdemeanor offenses an opportunity to receive aid or services instead of prosecution
- ADAs and paralegals will work directly in the precincts to implement this program
- The initiative aims to stop the revolving door to the criminal justice system and reduce recidivism by providing services to people who commit quality of life crimes
