All of you are among the most forceful voices in our city around the issue of public safety, and I thank you for that.

Brooklyn is home to one of the most diverse boroughs in the city, home to 2,700,000 people from every background, speaking every language, and practicing every faith.

That diversity is our strength, but it also means that keeping Brooklyn safe requires more than just enforcement.
