Thank you for staying this afternoon and joining us for this very important session of testimony from the district attorneys and the special narcotics prosecutor.

My name is Michael McMahon, and I'm privileged to serve the people of Staten Island as their district attorney.
4:36:26
It's also a great honor for me to sit here, to come back to this chamber again, where I served for eight years sitting on that side, of the room, on the committees, representing the people of Staten Island.
4:36:38
I was a proud member of the city council, And I'm equally proud to be a member of this dais.
4:36:44
And and before I begin with my testimony, just to say, it is an honor and privilege to serve with these great district attorneys, Clark and Gonzalez and Katz and Bragg and our special narcotics prosecutor Bridget Brennan.
4:36:59
And I'm here to say that it's to me every time we speak, it's an amazing conversation because the conversation isn't about how can we get more convictions or I got a murder conviction yesterday or we're starting a trial on a shooting tomorrow or how can I get, drug dealers locked up?
4:37:15
The question and discussion is always how can we use the power of the platforms that we have as the chief law enforcement officers of our boroughs to have a more positive impact in our communities, to reduce crime, to put ourselves out of business, to make our streets safer, and make our justice system fairer for everyone.
4:37:34
And so I want my former colleagues from the city council to know that that we are not here as prosecutors looking to prosecute.
4:37:41
We are look here as prosecutors looking not to prosecute and to keep the people of New York City and for me, Staten Island safe.
4:37:51
As Staten Island's Chief Law Enforcement Officer, I'm incredibly proud of all the work that we have done in my office together with our partners in New York City Police Department, neighboring law enforcement agencies, our community, and local non for profits, and those who call our beloved Staten Island home to make our borough a safer place.
4:38:10
If I haven't mentioned it yet, I'm from Staten Island.
4:38:13
Did I did I bring that up?
