Council Member Holden raises concerns about the poor condition of NYPD precinct buildings, many of which were built in the early 20th century. Deputy Commissioner Ryan responds with information about the capital budget allocation for facility improvements and specific plans for the 104th Precinct.
- Approximately 45% of the NYPD's capital budget is associated with facilities
- Many NYPD facilities were built early in the last century or before, requiring significant infrastructure upgrades
- For the 104th Precinct specifically, plans include locker room renovations and HVAC upgrades, with a bid package currently in development

And finally, did speak to, chair, if I may just follow-up on some of that.
1:18:54
I go into my precincts, and they're built in the early twentieth century, many of them.
1:18:59
And they're way overcrowded.
1:19:01
Now we talked a bit about NYPD facilities.
1:19:04
How much in the budget can we put into revamping our precincts?
1:19:08
Because my 104 Precinct's upside down.
1:19:10
And we did get facilities in there, but then came the pandemic.
1:19:14
So are we putting more money into renovating?
1:19:16
Because it's very depressing going to some of these precincts, the lighting, the the conditions, the just the overall, it's crowded.

So approximately 45% of our capital budget is associated with facilities.
1:19:31
Unfortunately, given the age of our facilities, many of which were built early in the last century, if not before, We do have a lot of infrastructure that needs to be addressed.
1:19:40
For the one zero four specifically, what we're looking at right now, which certainly won't fix everything, but is to do some locker room renovations and HVAC upgrades, and we're working on the bid package package for that right now.
