Council Member Rita Joseph asks about the percentage of class size compliance that would be achieved with the 13,478 seats scheduled to open by 2027. SCA Vice President Cora Liu explains the challenges in determining exact compliance percentages due to the dynamic nature of school enrollment.
- Exact compliance percentages are difficult to determine due to changing enrollment patterns
- Schools may be in compliance one year and out of compliance the next
- SCA works closely with district planning and space planning to maximize the impact of upcoming seats

So there's some cushion room until you meet the compliance.
5:31:19
Okay.
5:31:20
So you have 13,478 seats scheduled to be opened by 2027 from the twenty twenty twenty four cap capital plan.
5:31:29
What percentage of class size compliance would that get us to?
5:31:32
What would that bring us in the class size law?
Cora Liu
5:31:38
We don't quite know.
5:31:40
It really depends on where the schools are.
5:31:42
And as you know, the school enrollment is very dynamic.
5:31:46
They change from year to year.
5:31:47
You could be in compliance one year, not in compliance next year.
5:31:51
We do work with our partners at district planning and space planning very closely so that they are fully aware of the seats that are in the pipeline that will come online in the next few years.
5:32:00
So we're planning how to create a catchment area, for example, or how to pair them up with schools that will be surrounding area in need of space.
5:32:09
So we have maximized the effects or the impact of those upcoming seats.
