What is what support is given to providers with students with disabilities?
2:42:01
Because I will say that that's the one thing that I have appreciated about summarizing, but also have been really upset about it because we should have been serving these students all along, and the city has said that they couldn't afford it, that they couldn't do it, all these things.
2:42:14
And now the summer rising is here, we're doing this.
2:42:16
And so I hope that when this program is no longer in existence, that we still are serving the students who need these services.
2:42:22
And so this is the one thing I will say that they have you guys have made great effort to include students with disability in this program that has never been done before, which to me was a disgrace to the students that we were not serving.
Emma Vadehra
2:42:33
Appreciate that.
2:42:34
And we are including them.
2:42:35
We're actually prioritizing through this them in this program as well.
2:42:38
We've been working closely with DC Foti's team on how we continue to support providers who have asked for additional support here.
2:42:44
So Christina, you wanna come up?
Christina Foti
2:42:46
Councilmember, I don't wanna share with you things that you already know, but you've been such an advocate on this.
2:42:52
You pointed out years ago when we first started the need to train the CBOs, we responded to that and made sure the second year of summarizing that that was a full partnership with the CBOs.
2:43:03
And we've continued to do that.
2:43:05
And so a lot of that has been with existing resources, but we're just grateful that it's landing in a way that works.
2:43:11
We've also really upped the number of paraprofessionals supporting our students in summarizing, which has been a beneficial impact for students.
Althea V. Stevens
2:43:19
Thank you.
2:43:19
What is the additional training?
2:43:21
Because I know last year, I know that there additional training, but a lot of it was through video and things like that.
2:43:27
Are there more hands on training this year for providers in preparation for this?
Christina Foti
2:43:32
Yeah.
2:43:32
So we've done more in person work.
2:43:34
We've done the online work.
2:43:35
We've also done resources like tangible resources.
2:43:39
And whenever CBOs reach out for additional support, I know that our team's been very responsive to that those requests.
