During our hearing today, the committee would like to discuss the department's new needs in the current fiscal plan.

This includes the additional 72,000,000 for personal service costs, including additional funding for overtime expenses and 29,000,000 in various OTPS adjustments.

The committee would like to revisit these items and others such as the recent Chalmers settlement, EMS pay parity, and the department's increasing reliance on overtime.

Over the past year, the committee has held oversight hearings on a wide range of topics, including hearings on the city's efforts to improve ambulance response times, the department's response and preparedness for flash flooding events, and most recently a hearing regarding the department's response and to to the preparedness for wildfires.

While these hearings were not necessarily budget hearings, as we all know, we often need to spend money to get results.
