And that's very helpful.

And another, question I had on that note is with the recommendations you provided, I mean in my opinion having enforcement, investigative powers walled off, independent from, you know, the executive branch is very important.

Frankly, we're seeing at the federal level right now what is happening and the erosion of the public integrity because of the ways in which the Department of Justice and the White House are structured now and what's going on there.
0:32:04
So to me, think this is a very timely issue.

I'm just curious of have other cities and their offices, inspector general type offices or DOI type offices, do they follow the same model too of independence in terms of the appointment of the commissioner, how it overlaps with other mayors as well?
0:32:24
Is that independence generally seen in other cities?
0:32:26
And if so, would you be able to provide the committee with more examples of of more independent models along these lines?
Jocelyn E. Strauber

We would be happy to provide examples.
0:32:35
I have to say, I I can't, you know, sit here today and tell you exactly how how other models work.
0:32:40
Certainly, you know, a for a for cause requirement is embedded in a number of inspector general hiring and firing protections, including, as you note, at the federal level.
0:32:50
Obviously, the law has to be followed for the law to be effective.
0:32:54
But certainly, we could find some additional models and examples and come back to you with those.
0:33:00
We'd be very happy to do that.

That'd be very helpful.
