Council Member Alexa Avilés inquires about EDC's reporting on local hire data, particularly for NYCHA residents employed at Sunset Park and Red Hook assets. Andrew Kimball explains the current data collection methods and limitations.
- EDC is preparing a Sunset Park annual report with data tracked through W2s and tenant interviews
- Zip code data is sometimes available from businesses, though not legally required
- Current data collection methods may not specifically identify NYCHA residents or buildings
- Kimball agrees to look into the possibility of providing more detailed data on current employment numbers for local residents

Do you have any, and I know actually you mentioned earlier, you're gonna be producing a report related to this local hire question that I'm constantly asking.
1:33:49
Is within that any reporting around current NYCHA residents getting employed at any of the Sunset Park Red Hook assets?
Andrew Kimball
1:34:01
I'm not sure we are able to ID exactly what building folks come out of, but I will check.
1:34:07
So the data that you'll see in the Sunset Park annual report that we're going to put out for the first time includes data tracked through W2s, but also tenant interviews.
1:34:21
And typically you can ask a business for zip code data.
1:34:25
They're not legally required to provide it, but sometimes they do.
1:34:31
And overwhelmingly that data shows good numbers.
1:34:35
So you always can do better on local hire.
1:34:38
I do not think it specifically would show who's coming out of East and West as an example, but I will ask
Alexa Avilés
1:34:45
the Or even probably zip code.
1:34:47
We could figure out more or less by zip code on the Red Hook side.
1:34:52
I haven't heard very much mention of I wanna know about the current employment numbers
Andrew Kimball
1:34:56
Yeah.
1:34:56
Understood.
Alexa Avilés
1:34:57
For current residents.
1:34:58
We could talk all about the future projection and all the fancy numbers, but currently that would be great to know.
1:35:04
Okay.
1:35:05
Thank you.
