Good afternoon, deputy speaker.
3:48:41
Nick Buse from the Food Bank for New York City.
3:48:43
I'll be very brief.
3:48:44
We'll have all the details in our written testimony about assessment, but I just wanna underline two big ideas here, which is that there are so many federal programs that we've been discussing and that the commissioner and HRADSS staff has been discussing.
3:48:58
There are immediate losses at food pantries and soup kitchens due to the suspension of federally funded programs.
3:49:06
So we can go into all the details of the numbers, but that those those threats and those changes are happening in real time, which is why it's essential that the council and that that the administration continue to push for investments in the Community Food Connection Program for a hundred million dollars.
3:49:23
Food pantries and soup kitchens are the last line of defense against hunger for people in our city, and we need to ensure that that that those programs are are strong in the face of cuts to in at the federal level.
