Council Member Restler inquires about the existence of a tracking mechanism for infrastructure investments related to City of Yes commitments. Commissioner Aggarwala and CFO Moray respond to this request.

  • There is currently no specific tracking mechanism for City of Yes infrastructure commitments
  • The city has a $1.5 billion commitment for infrastructure investments
  • Commissioner Aggarwala suggests that reporting on overall stormwater resilience planning and projects would be more comprehensive than focusing solely on City of Yes projects

Fair.

I think that even if the direct correlation is lacking, there's a strong sentiment from New Yorkers, and I represent a district that has seen more new development than any other council district in the city over the last fifteen years, that infrastructure issues in our community should be addressed as our community grows.
2:14:49
You know, that the expectation from the city is that a growing community deserves to make sure that we are handling resiliency issues, storm water, sewer infrastructure issues, parks issues, schools issues appropriately, in part to accommodate the growing population, but in part to address quality of life issues for a community that is taking doing its part to facilitate growth in New York.
2:15:15
And, you know, I'll say to well, I'll come I'll do my North Brooklyn stuff and I'll do my own Greenpoint stuff in a moment.
2:15:21
But can I just to the question of is there a mechanism by which the council will be able to track and the public will be able to track infrastructure investments that we're committed to as a part City of Yes as part of City of Yes in our progress on those projects?
Rohit Aggarwala
2:15:39
Well look I'll ask Nerissa to talk about some of the specific projects.
2:15:46
I'm not aware of a tracking mechanism around city of yes commitments per se.
2:15:53
But again I will point out that the city of yes commitments we've made really are in the context of our overall comprehensive plan for storm water resilience and that plan is ongoing, it's under development.
2:16:08
And I I would hope going forward that, and and this is I think contemplated in chair Gennaro's storm water legislation, that we'd be asked to report out as we did last year on the state of the art of our storm water resilience planning and where those projects are.
2:16:27
That's that's what I would think would be more healthy than focusing narrowly on the city of yes projects.
2:16:35
Do you wanna add a couple of points on
Nerissa Moray
2:16:37
No.
2:16:37
I think I think that's right, commissioner.
2:16:39
And I guess I would just say that we have a $1,500,000,000 sort of commitment, so we do have that number.
2:16:45
But there you're right that there isn't actually a tracking mechanism sort of per se at this time.
Lincoln Restler
2:16:50
Okay.
2:16:51
Thank you very much.
