Can you please provide an update on the timeline for implementation and the steps DOT has taken in conjunction with other city agencies thus far?
Eric Beaton
3:33:48
Yes.
3:33:48
So we like you said, we were this multi agency task force.
3:33:52
In addition to those key agencies, we've working with PD, sanitation, EDC, DCP, as well as the sheriff's office on the enforcement side.
3:34:04
And we're all looking at our own facilities.
3:34:06
Right?
3:34:07
DOT has a certain number of of parking facilities that we own and other pieces of land.
3:34:12
We're doing an investigation to see if any of those, you know, have the right geometry and the right amount of space for providing overnight truck parking.
3:34:20
Other agencies are doing the same.
3:34:21
EDC is also engaging with the private sector because some of those sites may be quicker for standing up.
3:34:29
So all of the agencies are working together to explore all those avenues and and to put the report together.
Ydanis Rodriguez
3:34:37
And you remember, chair, that I think that we worked together with the mayor, like, two years ago in Queens with a police commissioner in hand and the sheriff removing those trucks were illegal in were illegally parked in some area.
3:34:50
So from working with a multi agency sheriff and NYPD, this continue being a priority So identifying those three where truckers are not allowed to put those sign in some location, and also to work with a pilot project also charging for in those area where commercial truck will be allowed.
3:35:09
So definitely, this is priority for this administration and working together with this body and with you, I know that we have to address it.
3:35:16
We should know that all truck that we see in the street, in many cases, they are in community.
3:35:20
When also we heard from electives about they this is are also our constituency.
3:35:25
We just want to be sure that everyone know that, you know, as I said before, we live in the in a density city.
3:35:30
And and and trucks you, you know, that are not allowing residential area, definitely we are continue working with NYPD, the sheriff in city hall to address that.
