Council Member Brooks-Powers requests an update on the grant awarded for Brookville Boulevard in Queens. Paul Ochoa provides information on the current status of the project and its funding.

  • The grant was awarded as part of the RAISE program
  • AKRF, a consulting firm, has been hired and is in the data collection phase
  • The project work just started a few weeks ago
  • No bills have been submitted for reimbursement yet, as the process is still in its early stages

Thank you.

And can you provide the committee an update on the grant that was awarded for Brookville Road Brookville Boulevard, excuse me, in Queens, and has DOT spent the money or are you still waiting on payment?
Paul Ochoa

It.
3:14:41
Yeah, that was a great example of a planning grant.
3:14:44
I believe that was raised that we wanted.
3:14:47
We have the consultant on board, it's AKRF, they're a really good consulting firm.
3:14:52
They're in the data collection phase, I believe, of that project.
3:14:56
We have not gotten any bills from them, so the way grants work is a consultant would bill us, we review it, we put a package together, and send it for the federal government for reimbursement.
3:15:06
That process hasn't started because the work, I believe, just started a few weeks ago.
3:15:10
It does take a while to procure federal contracts, that's why the work just started but they're in the collection phase.
