Today, we will be hearing from the Department of Parks and Recreation on its fiscal twenty twenty six preliminary budget, which totals $640,400,000.

While it is an increase of about $22,400,000 since adoption, this is still nowhere near the budget that the Parks Department of New York City deserves.

It is nowhere near the goal of $1,000,000,000 that mayor Adams campaigned on four years ago and has consistently broken that promise, and it is nowhere near what other cities, large cities across America devote to their parks budget every year.

If we want to be serious about investing in the well-being of New Yorkers, if we want to be serious about investing in New Yorkers public health as well as mental health, then we need to take the steps towards improving our parks, making them safer and cleaner.

And you do that by investing in them, not by cutting their budget.
