Commissioner Rahman describes OATH's recent efforts to engage with judicial hearing officers, particularly through a virtual town hall meeting held in January.

  • The town hall allowed hearing officers to submit questions and discuss various issues.
  • About 50 hearing officers attended the virtual meeting.
  • Feedback indicated that the town hall was helpful for the hearing officers.

I recently held a town hall with our hearing officers.
2:35:12
Like I said, they are a vital part of the Oath family.
2:35:15
So in January we invited all of them to come to a virtual town hall.
2:35:21
Everyone was allowed to submit questions.
2:35:22
We received over two dozen questions.
2:35:24
Some of them covered this issue.
2:35:26
Some of them covered the topic of breaks.
2:35:28
Some of them covered the topic of what's the future of the hearings division at Oath.
2:35:32
And we had about 50 hearing officers attend.
2:35:35
I was really happy with the participation.
2:35:37
And the feedback I got afterwards was that the town hall was helpful.
2:35:41
So we take many steps to engage with our hearing officer family members, but again there are certain things that are going be subject to their contracts just as there are with all of our other employees who are represented by unions.

I'm just not familiar with any other employee in city government that has a required remote component.
