- Potential federal Medicaid cuts of $880 billion over ten years are a significant concern
- Half of NYC residents and 60% of children are on Medicaid, making the city vulnerable to cuts
- DOHMH receives about $60 million a year in Medicaid admin funding across various programs

Can you share an update status to the concerns about any cuts to Medicaid from the state?
Michelle Morse

We are watching the federal conversations about Medicaid cuts very, very closely.
0:41:25
The numbers that have been mentioned in the news are $880,000,000,000 in cuts over ten years.
0:41:31
This is certainly of concern to us in New York City.
0:41:35
In New York City, half of New York City is on Medicaid and 60% of our children are on Medicaid.
0:41:44
So our expectation is that if those cuts do happen, there will be significant impacts unfortunately in New York City for both health care as well as social care.
0:41:54
So we are very concerned about those potential cuts, although they haven't happened yet.
0:41:59
In addition, we do receive some reimbursement funds for the people who seek care in our sexual health clinics if they are insured by Medicaid.
0:42:11
Although a very small number of the people we see at our sexual health clinics and other clinics are insured.
0:42:16
So that's another area of direct funding for Medicaid for us as well as early intervention.

How much funding does DOHMH receive for Medicaid?
Michelle Morse

I'll pass to our Chief Financial Officer.
Aaron Anderson

Thanks for the question.
0:42:31
Yeah, as Doctor.
0:42:31
Morse mentioned, on the direct billing side it's relatively modest.
0:42:35
This is for the work happens in the clinics.
0:42:37
Our target is a few million dollars.
0:42:40
But we do receive about $60,000,000 a year in Medicaid admin funding.
0:42:45
And that's across a few different programs, including school intervention, health insurance involvement.
