Vickie Paladino

This composting waste.
Javier Lojan
1:54:43
Right.
Vickie Paladino
1:54:43
Okay.
1:54:45
I don't like it.
1:54:47
I don't agree with it.
1:54:49
I don't think our neighbors should be forced to compost their daily eggshells and chicken bones and stuff like that.
1:54:58
I just think the trucks are, I don't think your trucks are ready for it.
1:55:02
That's raw waste, and to leave it up to the individuals to do it.
1:55:09
Tell me a little bit about my district.
1:55:12
And if they purchased these little brown pails, and they did, but they don't have waste every day.
1:55:19
David brought this up, David How are we gonna handle the people who do not want to compost?
1:55:27
And if you go by this twice a week, certain areas is Monday night Sunday night and onto Monday pickup, Thursday pickup.
1:55:35
So let's see you take those, Monday and Thursday pickups.
1:55:38
Right.
1:55:38
And you go week by week by week by week by week, one more moment.
1:55:42
And that same block did not put out their compost pile.
Javier Lojan
1:55:47
Right.
Vickie Paladino
1:55:47
What's gonna happen to those people who don't put out their compost pile?
Javier Lojan
1:55:51
So if they don't put it out, I mean, that's not a a reason for a summons.
1:55:55
They have to put out their compost organics material with the refuse, then they'd be subject to a fine.
1:56:02
And as far as the I think in your district, in areas of Eastern Queens are what we call our hybrid routing model Yes.
1:56:10
Allows us to be more efficient because that same truck is going down the block to collect the refuse and the organics on the recycling day.
1:56:20
So I think whatever weight shifts over to the other side, I think we're ready for that.
1:56:26
But just to your point, I mean, we're not gonna issue a fine for somebody.
Vickie Paladino
1:56:30
Because that's what I'm concerned about, the elderly, the older people.
Rafael Salamanca
1:56:33
Right.
Vickie Paladino
1:56:34
You know, everybody's a creature of habit.
1:56:36
Right.
1:56:37
And they just put their garbage in their regular garbage that we've been doing.
1:56:41
And to have recycling for plastic is great, for paper is terrific, and just our regular garbage.
