Yes.
3:00:59
Thank you, and nice, to see everybody here at the council.
3:01:04
And, my name is Christina Daczromero.
3:01:07
I'm with the Lower East Side Ecology Center.
3:01:10
And I just really wanna thank the council for making this funding available last year.
3:01:16
We very proudly put the New York City community composting network, together.
3:01:24
It was quite an undertaking after really being unfunded for half a year to bring everybody back up to speed.
3:01:31
And I really sincerely hope that we will continue to receive funding this fiscal year too because we are just starting starting with our services, including supporting curbside education.
3:01:45
And sometimes, I think there is a perception that community composting is not needed anymore because we have curbside collection now, and that's really not true because as you heard from many people, we are really on the ground educating people about composting to really enlighten and encourage them to participate at a level that is fit for different people.
3:02:11
So we did a lot of food scrap drop offs, and local processing is part of what community composting does to really feed community gardens and to also make green infrastructure more effective.
3:02:24
This year, the Lower East Side Ecology Center has a special ask to not only continue our programming support, but also to really get the build out of the Canarsie Campus site over the finishing line.
3:02:39
This site was planned three years ago.
3:02:42
There was a lot of investment in this site already made, and we would really like to see that happening.
3:02:50
It will bring resources to Brooklyn to an oftentimes overlooked neighborhood, and it will really allow campus education to to go to Canarsie, East Broad East New York, and other neighborhoods.
3:03:06
Thank you.
