Council Member Rita C. Joseph inquires about HPD's monitoring of buildings after they exit the Alternative Enforcement Program (AEP). Acting Commissioner Tigani explains the agency's approach to post-program monitoring and complaint handling.

  • HPD staff primarily focus on new buildings entering the AEP program
  • The agency continues to monitor complaints through the 311 system for all buildings
  • Buildings still in the AEP program with active orders are subject to the program's framework for violations and complaints

Do you monitor the buildings once they exit to make sure they're staying, they're following the course?
Ahmed Tigani

So, we have we have staff that are we have staff that are working throughout the AEP portfolio.
2:03:22
Usually our focus is on the new buildings that come in because they are the first ones that need to be adjusted to the program requirements and what needs to happen.

Separately though, as the complaints come in through the system, every three one one complaint where an AEP building is still in the program, has the order in place, you know, is governed and the violations go through that framework.
