- The AEP has been in operation for 18-20 years
- Thousands of buildings have been discharged from the program
- HPD acknowledges challenges with recalcitrant buildings that remain in the program
- The agency is open to ideas for improving the program and has been in discussions with the City Council about potential changes

So thank you, council members.
2:00:33
So we've discharged thousands.
2:00:34
The AEP has been around for eighteen years, twenty years.
2:00:38
We've discharged thousands of buildings from that program, but there are buildings that are recalcitrant and stay in the program.
2:00:44
And so we do have some ideas and as the commissioner referenced, we do a report every two years on AEP and we do have some ideas to improve exactly what you're getting at.
2:00:53
And the council has actually already reached out to us to start talking about changes to AEP.
2:00:59
So we'd be happy in addition to having specific building conversations with you to hear your ideas about other improvements we can make to the program.
2:01:07
But we do believe that overall we've seen thousands of system replacements across buildings in New York City.
2:01:13
We do millions of dollars in emergency repair through that program.
2:01:17
You know we are attempting to work with some of the worst buildings in the city.
2:01:21
And it is a a very tough nut to crack, but we're always trying to move that program forward.

There should be a program.
