Let's talk about the real property tax exemption for Cold War veterans, which we had spoken on this committee several times.

In May of twenty twenty two, introduction three seventy seven of 2022, sponsored by then council member Barelli, was introduced to grant a real property tax exemption to Cold War veterans who served on active duty in the United States Armed Forces between 09/02/1945 and 12/26/1991 and were honorably discharged.

This exemption would apply to the veterans prime primary residence and the exemption would be for 15% of the assessed value on residential property capped at 39,000 and would remain in effect for ten years.

Additionally, Cold War veterans who are disabled due to their service would be eligible for an additional exemption of up to a hundred and 30,000.
