Council Member Ayala inquires about the data DSS needs for automatic enrollment and how to ensure they receive it from other agencies. Administrator Scott French explains the complexities and limitations involved in data sharing for benefit programs.
- The data needed would depend on the specific benefits being considered for automatic enrollment
- Many core benefits are guided by strict state and federal regulations regarding information use
- There are significant limitations on how information received for one benefit can be used for others
- The exchange highlights the complex regulatory environment surrounding benefit program data and enrollment processes

My final question is what data does DSS not have access to that it would need to determine automatic enrollment and what agencies do you believe have this information and could and how could we ensure that you receive it to administer an automatic enrollment program?
Scott French
1:55:23
That would really depend on the specific benefits that we're we're looking at.

But again, you know, many of our bedrock benefits are very much guided by state and federal regulations in regards to how we receive the information applying for those benefits and what we are or are not able to do with that information outside of the specific benefits someone's being considered for.
