Council Member Ayala inquires about the functionality of Access NYC, questioning if it already serves as a universal application tool. First Deputy Commissioner Jill Berry clarifies the limitations of the platform.
- Access NYC determines what benefits a person may be eligible for based on entered information
- It does not automatically transmit information or result in an application for benefits
- Users must re-enter all their information into individual program applications after screening
- Access NYC functions solely as a screening tool, not an application platform

Isn't that what Access NYC does though?

I mean, I haven't gone on the in a while, but isn't the objective of accessing YC that a person puts all of their information and then it's you know it determines the you know what a person qualifies for or not?

It determines what you may or may not be eligible for, yes, but then an individual then has to reenter all of that same information into the actual application for those individual programs.

It doesn't automatically transmit or result in an application.

It's just a screening tool.
