Council Member Crystal Hudson inquires about expedited processes or additional protections for older adults experiencing financial abuse. Deputy Commissioner Gili Hershkovich-Kim outlines the steps APS takes in such cases.
- APS alerts Social Security Administration and all financial institutions affiliated with the client
- Financial institutions may decide to freeze the client's account to allow APS to start services
- APS maintains ongoing communication with Social Security to highlight urgent situations
- There is continuous advocacy for clients experiencing financial exploitation

Is there any expedited process or other protections that could be put in place when an older adult is being financially abused?
