Council Member Abreu inquires about DSNY's assessment of awardees' equipment needs for service in Queens Central. DSNY officials explain their approach to monitoring and ensuring compliance.
- Equipment needs were submitted through the RFP process and awardees' plans
- DSNY conducts level two inspections to verify compliance
- Newer trucks have been observed in service, but all trucks must meet standards regardless of age
- Only one truck out of hundreds has been taken out of service, indicating high compliance

So as far as the equipment needs that was all submitted through the RFP and then their plans.
1:02:14
So one of the things that we've seen is when we go out and do those level two inspections that I mentioned is that we are we are seeing, the Carter's with newer trucks.
1:02:27
But I think regardless of that, no matter if it's a brand new truck or a twenty year old truck, it has to be up to standard and we have seen that.
1:02:36
Like I like I mentioned before, we only were able had to take one of the trucks out of service which is a you know, it's one truck out of, know, a lot you know, a couple hundred of trucks.
1:02:46
So that's that speaks volumes of that they stuck to their plan and we've been closely monitoring that.

Thank you commissioner.
1:02:59
How many new trucks have awardees purchased to perform collection services in Queen Central and do you find that the new trucks meets the demand?
1:03:09
Basically, is there enough capacity with the new trucks to perform the services needed?
Javier Lojan
1:03:14
So we have seen some new trucks.
1:03:16
I mean every every Carter submitted different plans.
1:03:20
The pen they all had different timelines as far as like their operations.
1:03:25
But just, know, to my point just that I just made is that regardless of what the truck is new or not, it has to be in compliance.
1:03:33
So if it's not in compliance, take it out of service, and that's one of the things that we look for through our enforcement mechanism.
