Vickie Paladino
1:52:17
Thank you, chair.
1:52:20
I'm really this whole thing has got me a little baffled.
1:52:25
I don't understand when we were talking if I missed this, please tell me that I did and you'll have to repeat yourself.
1:52:33
Where will a little, can you explain to me what this is with the grease?
1:52:39
We've got brown grease, and we've got yellow grease.
1:52:43
What is this?
Javier Lojan
1:52:44
Council member, I think that we'll we'll defer those questions to BIC.
1:52:49
What's that?
1:52:49
I we'll defer those questions to the the business integrity commission who will testify after us.
Vickie Paladino
1:52:54
Looked at today's itinerary.
1:52:55
I've never seen so much obsession with garbage.
1:53:00
I don't understand what the heck is going on.
1:53:04
When picking up garbage has now become a huge event, you know, we recycle, we do everything that we're supposed to do, and now we're falling into a whole another aspect of of sanitation and picking up and fining and and defining and everything like that.
1:53:27
And for the most part, the average Jane and Joe have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
1:53:33
So we as a council member, myself as a council member, I need to take this back to my constituents.
1:53:40
And I need to try to help them understand what I don't understand.
1:53:47
So, it makes life very difficult.
1:53:50
I live in a Northeast, you know, District 19 with which is Northeast Queens.
1:53:56
Everything seems to be pretty much under control, thank you, in Northeast Queens.
1:54:00
So when I see all this legislation coming about and the people out there are not understanding it, as I said, am I, everybody seemed to have gotten rid of their garbage pretty well prior to 2024.
1:54:16
Now 2024, everything got all really complicated, you know.
1:54:21
So I wanna thank you.
1:54:23
Gonna jump to something else.
1:54:24
I wanna thank you for putting off the fining of, single family homes as well as small multi dwellings even though it's just a postponement.
1:54:36
I don't believe people need to be fined for the way in which if they separate their garbage with the plastic and the glass and the metals, and we do our due diligence to do all of that, adding compost to the everyday person and finding them, I think is an unnecessary burden.
1:54:55
And again, a lot of people don't understand it, what they need to do and all of that.
1:55:00
So I don't believe the fine should be man I don't think this should be mandatory in any way shape or form.
1:55:06
We, the common sense caucus has put in legislation to make it voluntary composting, not mandatory composting.
1:55:16
You know, you have your reasons I'm sure, but I just simply do not understand now about grease disposal.
1:55:24
Are we talking about automotive grease?
1:55:26
Are we talking about household grease?
1:55:28
What are you guys talking about?
Javier Lojan
1:55:30
So Vic will testify after us, and I believe defer to commissioner Coradi on your question.
Vickie Paladino
1:55:37
Okay.
Shaun Abreu
1:55:41
Thank you.
1:55:43
Alright.
1:55:43
This this panel is is is adjourned, is excused.
1:55:48
And assistant commissioner Frank Marshall will stay back
