Council Member Abreu inquires about the payment compliance of businesses that were involuntarily assigned to carters. DSNY officials provide data on compliance rates.
- Approximately 200 out of 8,000 businesses have not paid the carters on a monthly basis
- DSNY sends out enforcement, issues violations, and reminds non-compliant businesses of their obligations
- The overall compliance rate for payments is considered high, given the large number of businesses that had to be assigned

That'll be very helpful because I think that I mean I'm my guess is that it's a pretty big margin.

I think obviously bigger businesses have more resources and smaller businesses do not.

And so I think this is also going to be subject to conversation as part of the executive budget hearing on the budget to making sure that our smaller businesses get the resources that they need to be in compliance.

But definitely get us that margin and you know you can we can figure out what what we're gonna define a big business or a small business when you send us that data.

There's still approximately 200 that have not paid the Carter's on a monthly basis so far.

What we end up doing is we send out enforcement, we issue them violations, and we remind them that, you know this is something that they're required to do but yeah there's still about 200 customers remaining.
