Thank you.

As chair of the civil and human rights committee, I truly do believe that it is our duty to protect the rights of everyone in New York City and so I'm really excited to vote on this package of bills.
1:08:06
I also just want to talk really briefly about another bill that is combating deed fraud.
1:08:11
When a deed is recorded without a homeowner's knowledge, it's more than just an error, it's a bureaucratic failure that can cost someone their home.
1:08:20
This legislation is a simple yet proactive step to clear the bureaucracy and hold the system accountable.
1:08:26
This bill is a result of a close partnership with Brooklyn Legal Services Corporation a who brought this issue forward and have represented countless clients, mostly low income, working class, and black and brown New Yorkers who own their home who've been pushed towards foreclosure or legal hardship because they were notified in time.
1:08:47
This bill closes the gap on a system that leaves homeowners vulnerable to fraud and injustice.
1:08:54
Thank you speaker Adams and my colleagues for your continued support on this important legislation.
