Okay.
4:53:32
The NYPD has been on the fire for failing to adequately report its Stops is designated level 3 by the Federal Monitors 2024, February and April reports.
4:53:41
As we follow the implementation of local law 202024, how many stops act?
4:53:46
Please explain what your legal strategy would be in the in the event of further lawsuits, should NYPD officers fail to receive adequate training or deliberately fail to capture information now required by law?
4:54:21
So if the facts were that were that they were not getting training or not complying with the law, you would help the council make sure that happens.
4:54:39
Navey at at his press comments earlier discussed the want to get rid of some of the sanctuary laws.
4:54:46
I believe the example he's using for that is a very horrific example where someone raped a sexual assault or someone was in that release and then did it again, which is horrific.
4:54:57
Unfortunately for the mayor and others reporting, the type of crime that that individual was found admitted guilt for was actually the type of crime that you can work with ICE, and it seemed like agencies or parties didn't communicate with each other.
4:55:15
Had nothing to do with sanctuary laws that the mayor has been opposed to for some time.
4:55:19
What's your opinion on getting rid of Saint Jude Law's?
4:56:06
I got it.
4:56:06
So if the if the mayor You're talking about did try to change things for any laws.
4:56:11
Or move forward something opposition to what the sanction of law say now, you would not defend that in court.
4:56:17
Should he be sued?
4:56:21
That's not a policy question.
4:56:22
I'm saying if he when a father of the century lost now or tried to change it, say illegally.
4:56:29
And he was sued, say by another part of the government, would you defend that decision that he was making?
4:56:47
So you might not
4:56:51
I just from that answer, you may possibly defend the mayor in Dubai.
4:56:59
You said that a few times when meeting my administrative assistant.
4:57:01
I got it from
4:57:08
Now I asked you a specific question, and would you defend the mayor doing that?
4:57:13
That's what I asked.
4:57:18
What context would you like?
4:57:19
Let me help let me provide some more context for you.
Randy Mastro
4:53:59
Well, so much of that question depends upon how the facts unfold.
4:54:07
So but obviously, I I favor people having the proper training and all that.
4:54:12
So, you know, that that's not really something to be debated, but it would depend upon the facts of the circumstance as they existed at that time.
4:54:29
I would help the council and the administration I represent both.
4:54:36
I would represent both if I'm fortunate enough to have the opportunity.
4:55:23
First of all, those are policy issues to be determined by the council and the mayor, and I will advocate for supporting the law.
4:55:35
In my own personal background, I think you know this public advocate, the charter revision commission that I chaired back in 2001, made the mayor's office of immigrant affairs or permanent charter agency have enshrined into our city's constitution the protection for immigrants to access all city services and not put themselves in any jeopardy because they access any services.
4:56:00
So you you you So from that experience, my personal views on the subject, but my personal No.
4:56:19
Again, these are policy questions.
4:56:21
No.
4:56:34
I I'm not gonna presume anyone that's acting illegally or answer hypotheticals.
4:56:38
I'm going to say that I will evaluate the law and what the law requires, and I will follow the law and advise the counsel and the mayor.
4:56:48
if the mayor violated the law or if the I got it.
4:56:55
That's not my answer.
4:56:56
My answer is I would have to evaluate the fact I
4:57:02
the law, and it messes in the city.
4:57:05
I would advise both the counsel and the mayor what I thought was legally required.
4:57:14
But I yeah.
4:57:16
It depends on the context in which the mayor is doing it.
4:57:22
I'm sorry?
Shekhar Krishnan
4:56:58
got it.
4:56:58
The ground.
