We have a full room right now of many who are here to testify from the bids, and it's just been alerted to me again after hearing the testimony.
1:52:34
Smaller bids have are stating that they will have to stop sidewalk sweeping and the replacing of liners of full public trash reps, receptacles if DSNY's rules and SBS does not grant, grant them financials finances in time to meet your deadline.
1:52:54
If the rules don't allow for compliance and there is no financial support, this will just result in dirtier streets.
1:52:59
Can you ensure that this will not happen?
1:53:01
And will you stay to listen to their testimonies to craft better rules so that they have clearer answers for compliance?
1:53:33
in Long Island City, we have very, very large apartment buildings, like, usually 68 to 72 stories with thousands of people living in them.
1:53:41
And every time there's Monday pickup, the trash fills up the whole entire block.
1:53:46
So I don't know how many containers they could possibly purchase
1:53:50
To meet these requirements, so I don't know what we're gonna do.
1:53:56
Not from the bids, but separately from residence.
1:54:08
Okay.
1:54:08
Because we just have massive, massive buildings, and I have not seen any of the empire building.
1:54:17
And then me next.
1:54:23
Okay.
1:54:24
Got it.
1:54:24
Okay.
1:54:25
We're gonna pass that bill.
1:54:26
Okay.
1:54:26
That's it.
1:54:26
I'll turn it back to the chair.
Joshua Goodman
1:53:08
Senior DSNY staff and legal counsel will be here until everyone has testified.
1:53:13
I, again, have committed multiple times as did the commissioner that we will meet with, hear from the bids, and that we believe that a lot of these concerns are warranted, and a lot of these concerns are based on misunderstandings of the policy.
1:53:27
We look forward to clarifying that with everyone.
1:53:30
Lastly, I have
1:53:53
Is street trash collected by the bids is what you're referring to now?
1:53:58
The large buildings don't use these.
1:54:00
They'll be getting the empire bins from the contour contract.
1:54:03
Right?
1:54:03
The 4 cubic yard on street containers.
1:54:05
These are for buildings with 1 to 9 units.
1:54:14
Right.
1:54:14
Because they're beginning in spring 2025 in community board 9.
1:54:19
Well, the any expansion will require the passage of council member Hudson's bill.
Shaun Abreu
1:53:50
Right.
1:54:30
Thank you to the admin for for testifying.
1:54:33
This panel is hereby excused.
1:54:35
Thank you.
