I want to just say a few words about our departing colleague and future assemblyman, Kalman Yeager.

I first met council member Yeager when, he joined this body as a member in 2018, and I was serving as chief of staff to my predecessor.

But I only really got to know him well in the time, that I joined this body as a member.

And he is one of the smartest, fiercest, most fearless, and wise people that I've ever had the privilege of knowing in this business and indeed in life.

He has probably forgotten more about government and politics than I could ever hope to learn, and he has been a stalwart figure for his community and for the principles with which he believes.

Sometimes his own conservatism, I think, puts the Republican conference to shame.

He is, a fantastic human being.

He is a man of integrity.

He is a man of conviction and character.

And the only solace I have that he's leaving this body is that he will continue to serve the public as a member of the New York State legislature, and he will be fighting for all New Yorkers and in particular the constituents I represent in Staten Island and, of course, my new adoptive home borough of Brooklyn as council member wrestler never ceases to remind me.

And I really wish Kalman only the best moving forward because he will only be giving the best to all of us as he continues to represent us in his future capacity.
