Council Member Abreu inquires about DSNY's strategies to reduce overtime without compromising essential services. Acting Commissioner Lojan explains some of the department's tactics for managing overtime costs.
- DSNY uses existing personnel for garage utility jobs and sometimes postpones non-urgent tasks
- Recycling routes are occasionally pushed to later shifts to avoid overtime
- These strategies aim to balance cost-saving with maintaining essential services
