Council Member Ossé asks about how tenant and homeowner protection services will be specifically targeted to the communities of Bed Stuy and Crown Heights. The administration outlines their approach to ensuring local access to these programs.

  • Partnering with council offices for education campaigns and housing resource fairs
  • Collaboration with local community-based organizations for on-the-ground support
  • Two housing resource fairs planned at Medgar Evers College
  • Open to additional ideas for reaching local stakeholders and providing in-person support in the community

Yeah and how are you aiming to target those services to this specific area?
1:26:52
Because I understand that sometimes when a program is seeing an expansion or an increase in funds, sometimes it's for its borough wide or city wide efforts.
1:27:01
But in this case, how is it going to be targeted to the communities of Bed Stuy and Crown Heights?
Sarit Platkin
1:27:07
Yeah, that's a great question.
1:27:09
So in the case of our tenant protection program, Partners in Preservation, you know we're already partnering with your offices to do this kind of education campaign in the coming months.
1:27:21
That will be a way to kind of alert folks to the various programs and resources that we have available through housing resource fairs that will be at Medgar Evers College.
1:27:30
We'll be having two of those.
1:27:32
We also of course partner with local community based organizations both through Partners in Preservation and the Homeowner Help Desk and so those folks are on the ground in the community and they provide like in person support in the local community.
1:27:47
I think beyond that we're also open to additional ideas of ways to kind of reach local stakeholders.
