Kezilar Cornish provided testimony on NYCHA's security measures, focusing on the implementation of new technologies and the identification of security personnel. She raised concerns about the prioritization of security upgrades and the transparency of job opportunities within NYCHA.
- Questioned the prioritization of geofencing implementation for buildings with non-functional security systems
- Suggested the use of identification badges for security personnel to distinguish them from other workers
- Inquired about the process for determining which buildings receive CCTV installations and the daily checks on security measures

Hello, Councilman Banks and everyone else.
2:28:48
So I was listening to the testimony and, so they were talking about how, many of the security, apparatus that they have at the NYCU buildings are not working.
2:29:02
And so I was asking that, will the citizens whose buildings are not working be the first buildings to receive the geofencing, etcetera, in order to plug the security?
2:29:17
Because, obviously, if they have security at the other sites that are working, then they don't need the geofencing first.
2:29:25
It should be the citizens that have no security at this point because of the broken apparatuses to receive that.
2:29:32
Is that in the making for them?
2:29:37
Also, something is fundamental that they're saying that the citizens were not able to identify whether or not this was the fire department or the security guard.
2:29:51
Something as simple as an identification badge should be able to fix that.
2:29:55
Why the people that are working there don't have identification badges so that the people can clearly see significantly that they are workers of this kind or that kind.
2:30:05
Simple.
2:30:10
Okay.
2:30:12
So what committees or voting process is to determine what buildings receive the CCTV?
2:30:23
They also said that they check every day to see if the CCTV is working, but not if the guards are actually on post or securing the perimeters of the building.
2:30:34
She testified that, you know, every day they check to see if the cameras are working, and that's it.
2:30:40
As if, you know, they just wanna make sure that apparatuses are working, but not if the people that are working in those perimeters that
Chris Banks
2:30:48
okay.
2:30:48
Thirty thirty seconds to wrap it up.
Kezilar Cornish
2:30:50
Thank you.
2:30:51
So, also, fire and security solicitations, Basically, that means that they're soliciting for people to take these positions.
2:31:02
Is that something that's being made known to the public?
2:31:05
Because these are jobs that are available, and, we'd also like to know if it's possible for these people who are in the, the tenants associations, you know, that they may be able to, get those jobs inside of their areas and work in their areas because they have a vested interest in making sure that these things are secure and safety for their families as well.
2:31:28
Thank you.
