Council Member Lincoln Restler asks United Neighborhood Houses (UNH) and Human Services Council (HSC) about surveys of their members' federal funding. Both organizations provide insights into their efforts to understand the financial risks their members face.
- UNH has analyzed member audits, finding an average of 22% of budgets come from federal sources, with some up to 50%.
- HSC is exploring ways to gather this information through various surveys and collaborations.
- Restler expresses concern about the impact on nonprofits in his district and offers to collaborate on efforts to support them.

That's very helpful.
1:10:58
And I wanted to just ask UNH and HSC if you've done a survey of your members of what percentage of their funding is coming directly from the federal government.
1:11:09
And if you haven't done a survey like that to date, is that something you're considering to just better understand the specific risks that your members are facing?
1:11:18
Sure.

What we have done so far is analyze our members audits, which share the funding streams that come from the federal government.
1:11:28
So that's where the statistic that an average of 22% of their budgets is from federal sources and that goes all the way up to 50%.
1:11:35
So we started there but we are continuing this conversation with our members.
Lincoln Restler
1:11:39
Wow.
1:11:39
That is devastating.
1:11:40
Thank you.

1:11:42
And thank you for the question.
1:11:44
There are a few surveys, both subsector, national and state, that are trying to get to this answer, and we're trying to support those, and also we'll explore working with both our coalition and the sub sector coalitions we work with to get that information.
1:11:57
We do so,
Lincoln Restler
1:11:57
we'll make sure to reach And we should collaborate on these efforts to make sure that we're thinking through whatever we can do at the city level to support.
1:12:06
It's, you know, I've just heard from so many nonprofits in my own district who are who have lost funding already and are just terrified for how they're gonna balance their books and continue to employ their staff and provide their essential services when, you so many different funding streams are on the chopping block.
1:12:23
We'll go to council member Brewer followed by council member Williams.
1:12:26
Unless you want to jump in?
1:12:27
Oh, sorry.
