  • Council member noted increases in city sentences despite efforts to reduce them
  • $8.9 million in cuts to ATI programs and $8 million in cuts to reentry programs were mentioned
  • MOCJ participated in the Program to Eliminate the Gap (PEG) across multiple years
  • Ongoing discussions with OMB about future programming and funding

Okay, it will be helpful to see some of that in numbers in terms of you know done with ongoing work, how has it been expanded by the numbers.
2:02:57
I understand you're saying the people it wasn't working for, but showing you know not just done with ongoing work, here's how we specifically grown, here's how many people we've been added, here's the capacity we've added to make this program move forward.
2:03:11
Because when you guys are saying done with ongoing work, you know, to reduce the number of people serving city sentences as much as possible, the number has increased since the date of the last update on here as of late last night.
2:03:29
So I think we you know it's hard for us to have a genuine conversation here and actually for you all to put and tell New Yorkers how we're doing when we're just getting this update last minute.
2:03:45
So how I guess it's just like how are you saying done with ongoing work when we're seeing people with city sentences increase?
2:03:54
Where we're seeing cuts to a lot of the programs that we I think we all agree need to be enhanced and expanded for reentry, for getting people on track for discharge planning.
2:04:06
We're seeing 8,900,000 cuts in ATI, 8,000,000 in cuts to reentry.
2:04:12
I'm just not understanding how it adds up to done with ongoing work.

As as all of the agencies across the city, we had to participate in the program to eliminate the gap, which is across multiple years.
2:04:30
Across the multiple years we were successful in this year of making sure that we were providing services.
2:04:36
We worked with our partners at OMB to make sure that we had the resources in order to deliver services to the number of people that needed to be served in fiscal year twenty five.
2:04:49
As we go forward, we continue to have the conversations with OMB about how we are moving forward with programming.
2:04:56
We do understand that the the program to eliminate the gap still has to be put into place in order for the budget to be reconciled and passed, and so we continue to have those conversations as we move forward.
