Stanley Richards discusses the proven effectiveness of supportive housing programs, focusing on the FUSE (Frequent Users of Services Enhancement) study.

  • The FUSE program targets individuals who frequently cycle through shelters and jails.
  • A ten-year study by the Corporation for Supportive Housing demonstrated significant positive impacts.
  • The study showed that supportive housing led to fewer returns to jail, increased stable housing, and improved community connections.
  • Richards emphasizes that successful implementation requires investment and leadership.

Supportive housing had people on people who were high users, and high users meaning they were in both systems at least three times or more over the last two years, the number of people who did not go back, the number of people who remained stably housed, the number of people who remained connected to communities, the numbers are phenomenal.
