Council Member Cabán inquires about the Department of Correction's Request for Proposals (RFP) for reentry services, including the timeline for contract awards and the expected number of people to be served. The discussion also touches on potential budget cuts and their impact on reentry services.

  • Chelsea Chard indicates that contract awards are expected in the coming weeks but cannot provide specific numbers on people to be served.
  • The RFP process is described as a 'challenge based procurement' where providers propose their own solutions.
  • Cabán raises concerns about potential budget cuts to reentry funding through MOCJ and asks about the net impact on services.

I look forward to hearing testimony from these service providers.
2:38:01
Can I ask another follow-up on this chair?
2:38:04
Thirty seconds.
2:38:05
Thank you.
2:38:07
DOC has recently released an RFP for reentry services.
2:38:10
So when do you expect a contract to be awarded, and how many people do you expect to be served under the contract?
2:38:17
And also, at the same time, the prelim budget would obviously cut reentry funding that goes through mop j rather than DOC.
2:38:24
So what do you project that the net impact will be on reentry services?
Chelsea Chard
2:38:29
So I can give some high level information.
2:38:31
This isn't work I'm involved with closely on a day to basis but I do know that we are anticipating making those awards in the coming weeks.
2:38:38
We can follow-up with the numbers.
2:38:40
I know that we do have some projections for how many people we do hope to serve.
2:38:44
But ultimately part of this particular process with the challenge based procurement, the providers are coming to us with their solution.
2:38:51
So how the programs take shape will ultimately be up to those folks.
2:38:55
But I can follow-up with some of those numbers as to what we were anticipating and hoping for.
Deanna Logan

Thank you.
