Pat McCann, representing SEIU Local 32BJ, expresses strong support for the 102-51 Queens Boulevard rezoning proposal. He cites the developer's commitment to creating prevailing wage jobs and the inclusion of affordable housing units as key reasons for their support.

  • The project is expected to create four property service jobs with prevailing wages and benefits.
  • The development will include 216 residential units, with 54 being permanently income-restricted for low to middle-income residents.
  • SEIU Local 32BJ emphasizes the importance of creating both affordable housing and good jobs to address rising living costs in New York City.

Good morning, chair Schulman and all members of the subcommittee.

My name is Pat McCann, and I am here today representing SEIU Local thirty two b j.
0:17:23
Thirty two b j is the largest union of property service workers in the country representing over 175,000 members across 13 states, including tens of thousands of commercial property service workers, security officers, and residential building staff in New York City.
0:17:40
Thirty two BJ supports responsible developers who invest in the communities where they build.
0:17:46
I'm happy to report that the developers of this proposed project have made a credible commitment to creating prevailing wage prevailing wage jobs for the workers who will be who will permanently staff the buildings.

We estimate that this rezoning will allow for the creation of four property service jobs.
0:18:05
Good jobs like these mean prevailing wages, meaningful benefits, and a pathway to the middle class for local community members who tend to fill such positions.
0:18:15
Moreover, we need more housing to be built in every neighborhood of New York City to ensure that working families are not displaced by dwindling supply and skyrocketing rents.
0:18:25
The proposed development will include 216 residential units, approximately 54 of which will be permanently income restricted for low to middle income residents.
0:18:36
As the cost of living rises and working New Yorkers struggle to stay in their homes, it is more important now than ever to create affordable housing and good jobs which uphold the industry standard in the city.
0:18:48
For all these reasons, thirty two b j is in strong support of the 10251, sorry, 102 Dash 51 Queens Boulevard rezoning.

Thank you for your time.
