A lifelong New Yorker from Staten Island testifies in support of Intro 1138, emphasizing that the potential parking inconvenience is insignificant compared to the safety benefits for pedestrians and the majority of non-car-owning New Yorkers.
- The speaker, despite being a car owner, strongly supports Intro 1138 for its safety benefits.
- They argue that slight parking difficulties are not a valid reason to oppose a measure that could save lives.
- As both a driver and a pedestrian, the speaker sees the proposed changes as an "easy decision" for improving city safety.

Hi.
2:24:02
I haven't prepared anything in advance so I don't think this will be as eloquent as most other people who have spoken but I'm a lifelong New Yorker.
2:24:12
Multiple generations of my family have lived here and I live on Staten Island.
2:24:17
I have a car, I drive it into Brooklyn to see my family and my partner all the time and I am fully for intro 11:38.
2:24:28
Like it's not that big of a deal for someone with a car.
2:24:32
It's still gonna be days where it's kind of hard to find parking, days where it's easy to find parking.
2:24:38
That's a crazy reason to be against intro eleven thirty eight when it comes to life and death.
2:24:48
Yeah and I'm a runner, I'm a pedestrian, I'm in multiple boroughs all the time and I think this is a really easy decision for the safety of the city especially when most New Yorkers are not car owners like it supports most of the city to make being a pedestrian safer but also as someone with a car parking it on the street all the time it's not a big deal and it needs to pass and parking is not a good reason to not pass it that's crazy.
2:25:22
Yeah thank you.
2:25:23
This is my first time in this building, it's really pretty.
2:25:27
Congrats.
