- SEMS is a citywide system with a Parks-specific interface
- For athletic field permits, there is no application fee
- Users create an account to view past and current permits, communicate with borough coordinators, and check fees
- The system is different for special events, which have a $25 application fee
- The Parks website offers language toggle options for accessibility

Right.
1:03:38
Got it.
1:03:39
Okay.
1:03:41
And can you explain a bit about the process to obtain permits through the citywide events, management system, CMS?
Margaret Nelson
1:03:50
Sure.
1:03:51
Thank you for the question, councilmember and chair.
1:03:55
So SEMS is a citywide system.
1:03:59
Parks has created its own kind of interface with SEMS, with our own digital media team to make it more user friendly and accessible.
1:04:08
So for the athletic field permit side of our event processing system, it's free, there's no application fee.
1:04:19
You have to go online and you create an account.
1:04:22
Once you've created the account, you can see all your past permits, current permits, you can email with your borough coordinator, you can see what fees you owe, and that all takes place through that system.
1:04:34
If you're applying, which is not the focus of the hearing, for a special event, that's a different permit system handled by different people.
1:04:42
There is a $25 application fee.
1:04:44
And then depending on what kind of special event, there might be other fees on top of that.
1:04:50
Does that answer your question?
Shekar Krishnan
1:04:51
Yes, it does.
1:04:52
Is that a multilingual system, or is it, English only?
Margaret Nelson
1:04:57
Hold on one second.
1:05:09
On our Parks website, you can toggle to a different language.
Shekar Krishnan
1:05:14
Got it.
