I continue though to be really concerned about rampant illegal parking in my community.

If you were to walk around Downtown Brooklyn today, you would find many hundreds of illegally parked cars on just about every single street.

And when Chief Shell was here, the last time we had a hearing on this topic a couple years ago, you know, he testified to his that he'd done more in four months than anyone had in a very long time on this topic.

He has multiple inspections going out every week, vacation days, he's taking he's holding officers accountable for illegal parking, etcetera.

We've seen no improvement while Chief Shell has been in his leadership positions.

No additional attention to the illegal parking issues.

And it's dangerous.

We have cars that are parked on sidewalks, parked in intersections, parked in bike lanes, parked in bus lanes, and there's no accountability because the worst offenders in Downtown Brooklyn are the men and women of the NYPD.

The illegal parking that we see around every single precinct in the City Of New York or 95% of precincts in the City Of New York is chronic.
