Proposed legislation to address Housing Connect problems

Council Member Sanchez introduces three bills aimed at improving the Housing Connect system and making it more accessible to New Yorkers.
- Intro 1264: Allows users to apply directly to specific re-rental units on Housing Connect
- Intro 1265: Enables applicants to receive notifications by email or text and designate a representative
- Intro 1266: Establishes a program for in-person Housing Connect application assistance in public spaces

To address these issues with the housing lottery system, I've introduced a number of bills that we will hear today.

They are intros twelve sixty four, which would require HPD to allow users to apply directly to specific re rental units on Housing Connect.

Intro twelve sixty five, which would allow applicants or a designee of their choice to receive notifications concerning lottery applications by email or text message.
