Hello.
3:07:34
Good day to all of you, and thank you for this opportunity to virtually testify.
3:07:39
My name is Veronica Paxton, and I'm a lifelong New Yorker and a proud resident of Hudson, York.
3:07:46
In fact, I live in a related company's property.
3:07:49
I stand before you today not just as a supporter, but as someone who is also deeply connected to Hudson Yards and is invested in its future.
3:07:59
As you are already aware, this project doesn't just bring buildings, it brings several and many opportunities.
3:08:09
Besides the already documented benefits, I believe that this will be an incredible engine of support and an ecosystem for small businesses, culture, the arts and the community at whole.
3:08:23
All of the cited benefits will be a catalyst for creating thousands of well paying jobs and will have the potential to provide many New Yorkers with a brighter future.
3:08:35
Importantly, this new plan reflects the voices of our community.
3:08:41
I respect that related revised their proposal after more than 200 community meetings, replacing an office tower with more housing.
3:08:49
That all matters.
3:08:52
I say yes to this vision because I believe that it will make Hudson Yards more vibrant, dynamic and inclusive.
3:08:59
I hope that you will also say yes.
3:09:02
I am not in any way disrespectful to some of the opposition, but I do trust that things such as those currently underserved, housing affordability, increased wind and shadow impacts, plus other important concerns can and will be resolved between our city and related.
3:09:26
Paraphrase what council member Eric Bottcher wisely pointed out at the beginning of this hearing, we as New Yorkers are proprietary yet stewards at the same time.
3:09:38
I interpret this to mean that while we feel deep pride and ownership over our neighborhoods, we also carry a shared responsibility to care for them.
3:09:52
Thank you.
